The two country artists started dating in 2018, and Pearce filed for divorce in June 2020
after eight months of marriage.
Since then, Pearce has opened up about the “awful” split
including in her songwriting
while Ray said in a previous interview:
“I don't wanna relive it. I don’t wanna sing about it. I don't wanna go back to it.
So why don't we all move forward and let's put out a record that shows the growth, not the stagnant part of life.”
Now, Ray is doubling down on his intentions of moving forward as he works on his next album.

seemingly referencing recent reports that he might tell his side of the split on the album
