A week after the Triumph 400 duo were unveiled to the world,

one of the bikes has now been launched in India

The Triumph Speed 400 is priced at Rs 2.33 lakh (ex-showroom, India).

The Scrambler 400 X will be launched in India later.

Powering both these new entry-level Triumphs is a liquid-cooled, 398cc, single-cylinder mill making 40hp at 8,000rpm and 37.5Nm at 6,500rpm.

This brand-new engine has been christened the TR-series and is mated to a 6-speed gearbox.

Output figures are in the ballpark of the KTM 390s (also made in India by Bajaj)

but the British duo make their peak figures earlier in the rev band.

Costing Rs 2.33 lakh, the Triumph Speed 400 comfoirtably undercuts its rivals like the KTM 390 Duke (Rs 2.97 lakh),

BMW G 310 R (Rs 2.85 lakh), RE Interceptor 650 (Rs 3.03 lakh – Rs 3.31 lakh).
